The Plunge: Issue #1
Introductions and Preludes:
Greetings, and welcome to Paint Lick Publishing! We could not be happier you are with us as we open our proverbial doors and share our offering of books and art with the world. I, a writer, newfound publisher and bibliophile of almost 4 decades, and my sister who is all of those things and more, are so excited to usher you into our obsessively curated collection of books and sumptuous apparel, with only one goal in mind: to publish more breathtaking art.
We have been diligently researching the best ways to fund, print, market, and sell new author’s work, so as to elevate their voices above all the bookish noise. Indie published authors will, on average, sell 250 books in the life of their novel, and traditional publishers are bombarded with new manuscripts every day, bottlenecking many new author’s ability to get their manuscript published. We’ve created a business model that allows us to fund the purchase of new manuscripts to be traditionally published and individually focused on, to reach as many of their respective readers as possible.
That’s it. That’s the catch. We want our books and authors on your shelves. We want you wrapped in our cashmere sweaters gazing at the sticker-free cover created by one of our insanely-talented artists. We want you to roll through the classics with us every change of season. We want to know what you want more of, even though we have some ideas already.
We are so excited to begin this journey with you: our readers, our authors, our friends.
To the end,
Tara and Susie
